A chemical compound is a chemical substance composed of many identical molecules (or molecular entities) containing atoms from more than one chemical element held together by chemical bonds. A compound can be transformed into a different substance by a chemical reaction, which may involve interactions with other substances. In this process, bonds between atoms may be broken and/or new bonds formed.
Chemical compounds
The following is a non-comprehensive list of chemical compounds:
Acids
An acid is a molecule or ion capable of either donating a proton or forming a covalent bond with an electron pair.
Bases
A base is a chemical compound that reacts with acids.
Inorganic compounds
Inorganic compounds are those that lack carbon–hydrogen bonds, or simply put that are not organic compounds.
Organic compounds
Organic compounds are generally any chemical compounds that contain carbon-hydrogen or carbon-carbon bonds.
