Dirt and Soil are distinct substances. Dirt is typically sterile and does not contain organic material or a microbiome. Dirt can be use as a substrate for plant propagation with certain pioneer species such as Plantago sp., Taraxacum sp., Cichorium sp., etc, but is typically not a viable medium unless mixed with compost.
