First you will need a suitable material to make a hammer/mallet ,it is recomended to make a mallet first due to it being simpler to create(only wood is needed).<br />

To make a mallet you need two parts :Head,Handle. We'l make the head first. To make the head of your mallet find a piece of hardwood (oak is recomended) with a mass of about ½ to ¼ of a kilogram.Shape your block of wood until it resembles a cylinder or a block with preferably 2 flat sides(altough only one is required). Then use a drill ([[Bow drill|bow]] or [[Auger drill|auger]] should work) and drill a hole trough the head.<br />

Then you need to make the handle.Find a stick idealy the lenght of your forearm and use a [[knife]],[[axe]] or [[chisel]] to shave the bark of. then use a [[saw]] or [[chisel]] to cut an incision in the top of the handle, the incision should be about 3 quarters of the mallet head deep.Then find a [[wedge]],shave the top of your handle to fit into the hole you drilled previously in the head of the mallet and slide the handle inside,then insert the wedge into the incision and use a rock or any other hard and heavy object to hammer it in, then trim the rest of the wedge off and now you have a brand new mallet!<br />
